Mikumi National Park was established in 1964 and later extended enlarging its size in 1975, it covers a total Area of 3,230 km² including floodplain, grassland, wooded savanna, miombo covered hills between 550–1,257 m. It provides habitat to wide range of different Wildlife Species including Wild animals, Primates, Reptiles, different insect species, plant life and different bird species which are recorded sightable in its suburbs.
Some of the Wildlife species in Mikumi National Park include eland, greater kudu, yellow baboon, vervet monkey, serval, sable antelope, hippopotamus, zebra, lion, wildebeest, impala, buffalo, giraffe, elephant, lilac-breasted roller, yellow-throated long claw, bateleur eagle, waterbirds , more than 400 bird species.
