Singita Kwitonda Lodge: Luxury Gorilla Trek Rwanda

Singita Kwitonda lodge is one of the luxury lodges to be used as the base for the luxury gorilla trekking. It’s designed from local materials, the buildings have been crafted using volcanic rock, river stone, handmade ceramic tiles and oven-red clay bricks made by surrounding communities; connecting the structure to the landscape and its culture.

These influences, interpreted in a contemporary style come together in a current, authentic and entirely unique architectural layout that is sensitive to its context and enjoys the privilege of remarkable views.

The Mountain bamboo, ferns, giant lobelias and forest trees provide a natural backdrop that over time will engulf the buildings and reclaim them back into the forest. The stone walls rise out of the volcanic boulders, and from these the architecture is suspended. A combination of green-roofed, stonewalled, organic cabin-like structures set alongside light verandas offer a dynamic play on shape and texture.

The central hub with beautiful indoor and outdoor living spaces serves as the heart of Singita Kwitonda Lodge. This space forms an experiential enclave with lounges, dining areas, an outdoor fire pit, an interactive kitchen, bar deli and a wine cellar for guests to enjoy. After you are done with trekking, these amenities will not leave you the same, a great experience to come out with at the end of your safari.

The lodge has 7 one-bedroom suites which sleeps 2 each with indoor and outdoor showers, an indoor bath, a sitting/rest area, covered veranda, dressing room, mini bar, an in-room massage area, indoor and outdoor fireplaces and a heated plunge pool.

You can join a two-bedroom suite which sleeps 4 with two identical bedrooms featuring indoor baths, indoor and outdoor showers, in-room massage areas and dressing rooms. The suite offers indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a more spacious sitting/rest area, a mini bar, covered veranda and a heated plunge pool.

Singita Volcanoes National Park also includes an exclusive-use four-bedroom villa, Kataza House which sleeps 8, featuring indoor baths and showers, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, informal living and dining areas, an interactive kitchen, covered veranda, heated plunge pools, cinema room, massage treatment room, fitness centre and small cellar.

Guests of the villa will enjoy the complimentary services of a house manager, chef, and house staff. Spa treatments will be available at extra cost.

Once you choose to stay in luxury at Singita, you will go for activities such as gorilla trekking, golden monkey treks, hikes to the volcanoes and the hike to Dian Fossey’s gravesite. These activities don’t allow sufficient time for guests to return to the villa to freshen up before their departure.

You will participate in gorilla treks, forest walks, and trips into Kigali. Volcanoes National Park is famous for its population of mountain gorillas. In fact, Singita’s new lodge is named after a splendid male silver back, who was cherished for his gentle nature. Treks into the forest to see the magnificent mammals can last from just an hour to 5–7 hours.

Once you find the family of gorillas you’re looking for, you’ll have an hour to relax and watch these incredible creatures. There will be trackers there to help facilitate communication and guide excursions up the mountain in search of individual families. After your time has passed, you will return to your porter, eat lunch, and take in the sights before beginning your descent.

Go for relaxing in your private heated pool while taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the surrounding landscape to reflecting in your room while gazing out at Mount Sabyinyo in the distance and enjoying an in-room treatment.

As you gaze over the 178 acres of land neighbouring the park, occasionally you may spot wild animals or even a gorilla, be assured that the terrain is undergoing rehabilitation through a replanting initiative, expanding gorilla habitat around the park.

The structures are connected to the cultures and landscapes of Rwanda, with incorporation with modern-day styles that come together in present-day, authentic and exceptional architectural designs that are sensitive to the context as well as relishing the chances of having incredible views.

There is a central hub with spectacular in and outdoor living areas that work as the heart of this luxurious accommodation facility. This area also encompasses the lounges, outdoor fire pit, dining areas, interdependent kitchen, wine cellar and fully-stocked bar with many kinds of Champagne, beer, whiskeys and so much more. Wi-Fi is also enjoyed throughout the Lodge, in addition to the on-site Akarabo Nursery and Garden, power converters, a conservation room, a functional gear room plus two Boutique and Gallery Cabinets at the Lodge’s reception/main area.
